We did

Views from the budget consultation and the service review dialogues were made available to the council decision makers to ensure they were fully informed of any relevant concerns prior to the drafting of the business plan and budget. A summary of the feedback from consultation can be found in the consultation chapter of the Council Business Plan on the council’s website.

Overview

Responding to the challenge, looking to the futureBirmingham City Council has published a ‘green paper’ Responding to the challenge, looking to the future

PDFs of the full green paper and a summary version are available below. There's also background information on the council's website.

The green paper outlines the broad proposals for the future role and purpose of the council and changes needed because of severe reductions in our spending power.

This is your opportunity to comment on the ideas.

What happens next

In December a budget consultation document (‘white paper’) will be published with budget proposals for 2015/16 onwards.

This will give more detail on suggested cuts and changes to individual services.

We will then ask your for your views on these proposals as part of our 'formal' consultation.
