Birmingham's Youth Promise We promise every young person in Birmingham aged 14-25years old, access to employment, education, training, apprenticeship or experience of work within four months of leaving a job, employment or training. We aim to deliver our Promise through new initiatives as well as improved existing, which we have designed with young people in mind.

Overview

Birmingham’s Youth Promise

We promise every young person in Birmingham aged 14-25years old, access to employment, education, training, apprenticeship or experience of work within four months of leaving a job, employment or training.

We aim to deliver our Promise through new initiatives as well as improved existing, which we have designed with young people in mind.

These include: 

  1. Digital Access Point - exciting, cutting edge technology will provide young people with key information at their fingertips, including opportunities matched to their skills and achievements. The B1 App has been launched to help start this journey
  2. Specialist Mentoring - mentors will provide specialist support to young people who are not in education, employment or training
  3. Birmingham Careers Service – a new and dynamic service to provide careers information, advice and guidance if to young people aged 16-19years old and not in education, employment or training
  4. Targeted funding – this will be made available for local areas to spend on those who need it most
  5. Transport – making opportunities more accessible, through better connectivity.

We need to ensure that of Birmingham’s all young people have the tools and opportunities they need to fulfil their potential, regardless of background or life circumstances.
