Adult Social Care Care Centres Public Consultation Phase 3
Overview
Following the approval of the 2024/25 budget at Full Council on 5th March 2024 a review of the Council’s internally operated Care Centres was recommended. The report confirmed that the review would consider future options for how the services can be delivered as efficiently as possible to support citizens to like a quality life.
The savings target for this service area is £6.4million.
Birmingham City Council currently provides residential care for older people at three Care Centres across Birmingham – the Ann Marie Howes Centre; the Perry Tree Centre; and the Kenrick Centre. We are undertaking a phase 3 public consultation and inviting people who live at the Centres, who use the Centres or may use the Centres to help shape the future of these services.
The phase 3 consultation is in response to feedback received, which identified that the majority of responses were not in favour of the Council’s preferred option – Option 3c to close services and rent the buildings. An alternative proposed option is therefore being presented, the consultation aims to gain feedback in relation to the alternative proposed option which is - Delivery of Residential Care and Respite in Kenrick Centre and Integrated Intermediate care services across Perry Tree Centre and Ann Marie Howes Centre.
The phase 3 consultation starts on 30th June 2025 and ends on the 25th July 2025.
