Local Safety Scheme - Bournville Lane
Overview
Birmingham City Council has an obligation to undertake safety schemes on the Highway. In order to undertake this commitment, funding has been secured to enable a programme of schemes to be delivered. Schemes are selected using criteria set out in the current Birmingham Road Safety Strategy.
Bournville Lane between Linden Road & Selly Oak Road has been identified within the Safety Scheme Programme as meeting the criteria and the following interventions have been identified.
We are proposing to make the following improvements:
- New pedestrian refuge island on the east side of Selly Oak Road along with the associated carriageway markings, tactile paving and bollards.
- New junction warning signs for Beech Road, plus adjustment of the carriageway marking across the junction.
These measures are part of an initial local phase and further measures may be introduced as part of other works programmes in the future.
