Overview

We would like to seek your views on proposed recreational improvements at Calthorpe Park.

We are aiming to deliver the above improvements in different phases. Phase 1 works will focus on improving the existing play facilities, and phase 2 works will focus on additional sport and recreational improvements which may include cricket nets and an outdoor gym area, subject to consultation results and funding availability.

We also would like to create a calm seating area adjacent to the Pavilion. This proposal may be delivered as part of Phase 1 or Phase 2 works, subject to funding available.

We aim to create a safe and inclusive environment at Calthorpe Park, with new exciting prospects, where there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We hope that the enhancements will make Calthorpe Park a popular destination for all.

Why your views matter

We would like to have your input as you are the users of the park and you know first hand what improvements you would like to see. We would like to design a space with your views in mind so you can enjoy the park as much as possible.

What happens next

The detailed design of Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be finalised once we have completed the Public Consultation exercise to understand and assess whether the current proposals are in line with park visitor’s needs and aspirations. We hope to commence construction of the new play area in the autumn.

    The Friends of Calthorpe Park are conducting a consultation event at Calthorpe Park on the 28th of June 2025, by the Play Area, from the Cheddar Road entrance. Anyone is welcome to come along.
