Cranes Park Road traffic calming scheme

Overview

This traffic calming scheme is being proposed to address speeding issues in the area along and around Cranes Park Road. This project is funded by the Local Improvement Budget – Transportation and Highways Fund, which seeks to address minor transport issues that are identified at a ward level.

The proposals include:

  • Refuge island (to provide a safe place for people walking to stop and wait for a gap in traffic) on Shaftsbury Road at its junction with Cranes Park Road
  • Pinch points (where the road is narrowed and priority is given to traffic approaching from Church Road) outside house no.32/34 & 45/47 Cranes Park Road
  • Domed mini-roundabout at the junction of Parkdale Road/Dovercourt Road and Cranes Park Road
  • Pinch points outside house no.130/132 & 133/135 Cranes Park Road (priority is given to traffic approaching from Church Road)
  • Pinch points outside house no.176/178 & 179/181 Cranes Park Road (priority is given to traffic approaching from Mapledene Road/Whitecroft Road)
  • Pinch points outside house no.220/222 & 225/227 Cranes Park Road (priority is given to traffic approaching from Mapledene Road/Whitecroft Road)
