HAF Recommissioning – Parent/Carer Survey
Overview
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme gives free holiday club places for children and young people who get benefit related‑related Free School Meals. These clubs could be anywhere in Birmingham.
The programme runs in the Easter, Summer and Winter school holidays, but may extend to half terms also.
Each holiday club can include:
- Fun activities (sports, arts, trips, games)
- A free healthy meal
- Learning around food and nutrition
- A safe place to play and make friends
Some clubs also offer:
- Support for children with SEND
- Activities and workshops for the whole family
- Help with healthy eating and wellbeing
The aim is to help children be active, healthy and supported during school holidays.
Birmingham City Council is now recommissioning the HAF programme. This means we are planning what the next delivery model should look like, who will deliver it, and how we can improve the offer for children, young people, and their families.

- Any barriers that make it difficult to attend
- How we can strengthen fairness, choice, and inclusion across the city
Your views are essential in shaping a programme that supports families effectively and provides the best possible experience for children.
