How can the Council’s brand better reflect Birmingham’s identity, diversity, and ambition?

Branding is more than just a logo or a colour scheme - A brand is defined as how you recognise and feel about an organisation, it is the way people recognise and interact with Birmingham City Council.

Strong branding helps us show who we are, what we stand for, and why people can rely on us.

When our branding is consistent and professional, it builds confidence, makes communication clearer, and strengthens the relationship between the Council and the community.

The coat of arms features a shield divided into four quarters by a white cross patterned with black ermine spots. At the center of the cross is a golden mural crown, symbolizing civic authority. •	Top-left and bottom-right quarters: Blue background with a diagonal gold zigzag pattern. •	Top-right and bottom-left quarters: Red background with a series of gold triangles pointing inward. Above the shield is a helmet with a gold and blue mantling, topped by a golden castle turret adorned with a red rose. Emerging from the turret is an arm holding a hammer, representing industry and craftsmanship. On either side of the shield are supporters: •	Left supporter: A figure in a white robe holding an artist’s palette and brushes, symbolizing art and culture. •	Right supporter: A figure in a work apron holding a cup and standing beside an anvil, representing manufacturing and labor.
