Historic Environment Supplementary Planning Document Consultation
Overview
Birmingham has a rich and diverse historic environment consisting of thousands of heritage assets including buildings, places, monuments, and archaeological sites that tell the story of the city and its people.
To assist in the management of these heritage assets in the planning system, the Council has produced a draft Historic Environment Supplementary Planning Document on which they are seeking your views through this consultation.
The SPD sets out the approach the Council will take when dealing with the various types of heritage assets in the city to help steer growth and development in a positive direction that benefits Birmingham’s historic environment and the wider prosperity of the city.
Why your views matter
This draft SPD is open to public consultation from 8th July to 19th August 2024 and the Council would like to hear your views on its content to ensure that the historic environment of the city continies to be protected and contributes to the wider prosperity of the city.
What happens next
Your views will help us to refine the Historic Environment SPD prior to its adoption by the City Council.
