Liveable Neighbourhoods : A Deep Dive Look (All Themes)
Overview
Liveable Neighbourhoods: A Deep Dive Look (all themes)
Birmingham City Council look after things like bins, parks, schools, and leisure centres in your neighbourhood, and it is currently putting together a Pilot Liveable Neighbourhood Change Strategy and Delivery Plan ( through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund), to improve things in Tyseley and Hay Mills Ward.
The aim of this pilot work is to quite simply;
- Make the area a nicer place to live
- Address local health & economic inequalities and improve wellbeing
- Create thriving local shopping centres
- Reduce carbon emissions
- Ensure the right range of services and facilities are are provided to meet the daily needs of the neighbourhood within walking distance of residents homes
As part of this we want to understand in detail through this survey what are your needs and issues in terms of being able to walk, cycle, and use a short public transport hop to access the services and facilities that you need daily, and what would encourage you to switch more generally to these modes of travel.
Why your views matter
To acheive the project vision of the pilot we need a deep understanding of the issues local residents are facing in terms of access to and using public transport, what you consider your essential needs are in terms of facilities and services, and and what is needed to encourage residents in the neighbourhood to use public transport, and to walk and cycle to key services and faciltiies.
Getting this right is critical as there is a real opportunity for change through the future East Birmingham and Solihull Investment Zone, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund ( which is funding the majority of this pilot), a devolution deal with the West Midlands Combined Authority focusing on East Birmingham priorities, and business rates retention from the forthcoming Investment Zone
All this means the time has never been better to see real change in the Tyseley and Hay Mills Area and as such it is crucial that we have quality information to guide how funding from these delivery routes is spent to avoid abortive work, to ensure it is being allocated where it is most needed, and so we can begin to think about how we can support your identified key services and facilities to come forward if they are not present already.
The Liveable Neighbourhood Change Strategy and Delivery Plan will make clear how these opportunites need to be applied in the ward to deliver a thriving liveable neighbourhood for all its residents.
Tell us in depth from the heart (by taking the survey below) what needs to change to achieve the above, and please feel free to be completely open with us. We need your critical local insights for this to work!
