Local Plan - Publication Plan Consultation 2026

Overview

The new Birmingham Local Plan will guide development across the city up to 2044.  Since 2021, three rounds of public consultation have been completed, and the final version of the Plan, known as the Publication Plan, is now being consulted upon. The public consultation period opens on Thursday 13 August and closes on Thursday 24 September 2026.

The Publication Plan also confirms there will be no locations or sites allocated within the Green Belt and that all Green Belt boundaries will remain unchanged.

The form sets out a series of questions to be answered, and all forms submitted by the deadline will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate for use in the Examination in Public. The examination is expected to be held in 2027 and regular updates on the examination of the plan will be provided on the new Birmingham Local Plan webpages.
