The Ackers Park Landscape Improvements

Overview

The Ackers Park (also known as Golden Hillock Sports Ground) has received exciting new funding that will help us create a range of brand‑new facilities for the whole community to enjoy. Thanks to the generous support of the Birmingham Youth Sports Academy, along with dedicated Section 106 funding, we’ll be able to improve the existing play area with new inclusive play equipment for younger children, colourful new playground markings, and picnic benches where families can relax and spend time together.

We’re also delighted to share that additional funding from Better Youth Spaces has recently been secured, which will allow us to build a brand‑new outdoor gym. This space will include equipment suitable for all abilities, including options designed for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Our aim is to provide more opportunities for older children and adults of all ages to enjoy being active outdoors. At the far end of the site, we’re planning a separate, state‑of‑the‑art calisthenics zone featuring specialist equipment for those looking for more advanced fitness activities.

We also hope to introduce improved landscaping, new seating areas, and extra litter bins to help keep the park clean, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

We want Ackers Park to become a real hub for the community—and your views are an important part of making that happen. Please take a look at the proposals and share your thoughts by responding to the questions on the following pages. Your feedback will help ensure that these proposals are tailored to the specific needs of this vibrant community by helping us shape the final design.

Why your views matter

We would like to have your input as you know first hand what improvements would suit your needs best as park users. We would like to design a space with your views in mind so you can enjoy the park as much as possible.
