Overview

Family Support and Safeguarding Services Redesign and Discussion on Changes in Children’s Centre / Locality Reach Boundaries.

Proposals have been developed aimed at significantly improving the service offer to children and their families by integrating the family support and social care services within the Directorate to establish multi-disciplinary Family Support and Safeguarding Teams with an area focus.

The managers across Family Support and Social Care will work together in co-located hubs to ensure there is a ‘family support offer’ available across the system which is able to provide a timely intervention that is responsive to individual and local needs, and build capacity.

Partnership agreements with a range of internal and external partner agencies will be developed and strengthened in order to bring coherence to the service offer and ensure the Family Support Services in Birmingham are more joined up, holistic and underpinned by a common assessment and care pathways.

Family support staff will continue to undertake those activities which are not statutory Social Work tasks.  These activities will require specialist skills e.g. parenting assessment and direct work with children and families which affect positive change alongside partners including Children’s Social Care.
