Clean Air Zone support for taxi and private hire drivers

Closed 8 Nov 2019

Opened 17 Sep 2019

Overview

Birmingham is on a journey to cleaner air.

Pollution in the air, mainly caused by vehicles on the roads, is having a harmful effect on the health of people living, working and studying in the city. We need cleaner air as soon as possible and have already started to make positive changes – including the introduction of a Clean Air Zone in 2020.

£15m is being made available to taxi drivers and owners, to help you make the move to clean air vehicles and technology. Download the taxi information booklet for more information (opens in new browser tab).

Please use the form linked below to submit a non binding expression of interest in the fund. The fund will be open for formal applications later in 2019; we will contact everyone who has completed the expression of interest to invite them to submit a formal application.

All support packages are only available to drivers and vehicles licensed to Birmingham City Council.

Why submit an expression of interest?

Submitting an expression of interest means that we have some initial details about you and your vehicles. We will then be able to let you know as soon as the formal application to the fund is open, and to process your application faster.

It also helps us to plan and ensure that providers of the cleaner technology solutions have sufficient supply to meet demand.

What information will I need to supply?

The expression of interest will ask for information about you and your vehicle(s) and what support package(s) you are most likely to be interested in.

Before you begin, make sure you have read the taxi information booklet and have to hand:

  • Driver license number
  • Vehicle license number
  • Vehicle registration number

The form asks for details of all your vehicles which are licensed by Birmingham City Council. If you have 1-3 vehicles, you can type this information straight into the form. If you are a driver with 4 or more vehicles, or a vehicle leasing company, you will be asked to complete a spreadsheet with your vehicle details. In these cases, you may find it easier to download and complete the relevant spreadsheet before beginning the online form:

What will happen to your data?

Personal data will not be shared with any other organisation. This work is being conducted in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR); if you would like to know more about our Data Protection Policy please visit www.birmingham.gov.uk/privacy.

By completing the form, you are giving permission for Birmingham City Council to use the data for the purposes outlined above.
