Overview

Canal & River Trust are planning to make some improvements to the existing canal access point at Pershore Road, Breedon Cross. Birmingham City Council, are funding the proposed works through the Birmingham Cycle Revolution programme.

Our proposal is to improve this heavily used existing access which takes people from the footbridge over the canal adjacent to Pershore Road Bridge, to the canal towpath. The location is highlighted in red on the attached plan.  Attached are photographs of the existing access for reference.

The improvements will include the rebuilding of the existing uneven access steps, construction of a cycle wheeling channel to improve access for cyclists, the addition of grab rail to assist less ambulant users. In addition we propose to install a short section of balustrade to the canal towpath beneath the bridge along with other safety improvements.

The improved access will remain in the ownership of Canal & River Trust.

If you have any comments on the proposal, please complete the online survey or email Simon Goacher at Simon.goacher2@canalrivertrust.org.uk or transport.projects@birmingham.gov.uk by the 25th August 2017.
