Overview

Canal & River Trust are planning to make some improvements to the existing canal access point at Yardley Road, in South Yardley. Birmingham City Council, are funding the proposed works through the Birmingham Cycle Revolution programme.

Our proposal is to improve the existing ramped access which takes people from Yardley Road down to canal towpath. The location is highlighted in red on the attached plan.

The improvements will include removing vegetation to increase visibility, installation of new sections of retaining wall, minor re-alignment of the ramp to improve access and improvements to the ramp surfacing where required.  In addition the existing balustrade will be cleaned and painted as part of the proposed works.

The improved access will remain in the ownership of Canal & River Trust.

If you have any comments on the proposal, please complete the online survey or email Simon Goacher at Simon.goacher2@canalrivertrust.org.uk or transport.projects@birmingham.gov.uk by the 25th August 2017.
