Overview

Canal & River Trust are planning to make improvements to an existing canal access on the Tame Valley Canal, from an existing public right of way between Perry Park Crescent and Curbar Road in Perry Barr. Birmingham City Council, are funding the proposed works through the Birmingham Cycle Revolution programme.

Our proposal is to replace an existing dilapidated stepped and ramped access with a new single ramped access connecting the public right of way to the canal towpath and to a recently construction pathway that leads across an open space to the Alexander Stadium. The location is shown highlighted in red on the attached plan. Attached are some photographs of this area for reference.

The improved access will be usable by pedestrians, cyclists and people with disabilities, and will be owned by Canal & River Trust. It will also compliment improvements the Trust has recently made to the adjacent historic canal bridge.

We hope to commence construction within the next six months subject to permissions being granted.
