Development Management in Birmingham DPD - Main Modifications

Closed 5 May 2021

Opened 24 Mar 2021

Overview

The Development Management in Birmingham (DMB) document will provide detailed policies to help determine planning applications and development decisions across the whole City, supporting the strategic policies in the Birmingham Development Plan which was adopted in January 2017. The document, once adopted, will replace the remaining Saved 2005 Birmingham Unitary Development Plan policies which have now become outdated.

Why your views matter

Following Examination Hearings held by the Planning Inspectorate in November 2020, a number of proposed changes to the DMB have been set out which the Inspector considered to be required in order to ensure that the DMB is to be found sound.  The proposed changes have been incorporated into a Table of Main Modifications (set out below)

The Main Modifications are to be read in conjunction with the original Publication version of the DMB (also attached below). There is also a Table of further minor amendments attached which do not affect the soundness of the Plan and are therefore not subject to consultation.

If you wish to make a comment on the Main Modifications, please use the Representation Forms (also to be found below).  One form should be completed for each Main Modification (MM).  Representations should be confined to the Main Modifications themselves and only relate to the soundness and/or legal compliance of these proposed changes. They should not relate to matters already covered as part of the examination of the DMB or matters that could have been part of the earlier representations or hearings, on the submitted plan.  Please do not repeat earlier representations as these have already been considered by the Inspector.

Representations can be submitted via:

•             Email: planningstrategy@birmingham.gov.uk

•             Post: Planning Policy, Planning and Development, PO Box 28, 1 Lancaster Circus, Birmingham, B1 1TU

Comments must be received by no later than Wednesday 5 May 2021

What happens next

The Council will not be responding directly to your comments as the representations received will be passed to the Inspector conducting the examination for her consideration in preparing her final report on the DMB.
