Draft Revised Local Information Requirements for Planning Applications

Closed 25 Nov 2021

Opened 14 Oct 2021

Overview

Local information requirements, also known as local validation criteria, sets out the information that the Local Planning Authority will require to be able to register, assess and determine planning applications.

National guidance requires that local information requirements are reviewed every two years to ensure they are reasonable and up-to-date. The current local information requirements list was last updated in March 2020 and can be viewed here: https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/downloads/file/7362/local_validation_criteria_2020

The local Information requirements are being updated in anticipation of the adoption of the Development Management in Birmingham Document (DMB). The Planning Inspector for the DMB has issued a Final Report and recommended main modifications which can be view here www.birmingham.gov.uk/DMB. The Planning Inspector has found the DMB to be sound, subject to the main modifications. It is anticipated that the DMB will be adopted by the City Council in December 2021. In preparation for the adoption of the DMB, and to reflect policy requirements contained within, revisions to the local information requirements are being proposed. The revised local information requirements will, of course, only come into effect when the DMB is adopted.
