Overview

OPTIMUM is an urban mobility project with 18 European partners drawn from the public, private and academic sectors. It will establish software architecture for the management of transport data such as traffic volumes and speeds, bus services, rail services, and roadworks as well as data from social networks regarding transport. This platform will manage and process multisource big data, which will facilitate proactive decision making.

The platform will be used for three discrete pilot projects – congestion charging in Portugal, in-vehicle sensors in Slovenia, and a multimodal journey planner in the cities of Birmingham, Ljubjana and Vienna.

As a preliminary to testing a smartphone application capable of planning real-time, multi modal journeys, a questionnaire has been developed to capture existing travel habits and the use of traveller information services. If you would like to help us with our research please fill in the questionnaire – the link is provided below. The questionnaire also gives the opportunity to volunteer for more in depth interviews and testing of a Smartphone App later in the year.
