Overview

Birmingham City Council are proposing a number of changes to  the Pines School in line with the Special Schools Additional Places Programme

The Pines School is a special school for 95 pupils from the age of 2 - 11 years  who have a statement of need for Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). The School is currently located at Dreghorn Road, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham B36 8LL within the Hodge Hill ward of the City.

Birmingham City Council are proposing the following;

  • Transfer the Pines School from Dreghorn Road, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham B36 8LL to Stockland Green Community and  Learning Village, Marsh Hill, Erdington, Birmingham B23 7EY with effect from 1st January 2016.
  • A phased increase in the numer of  primary aged pupil numbers from 95 to 130 with effect from 1st January 2016.
  • Alteration of the upper age limit from 11 years to 16 years so as  to offer secondary provision with effect from 1st September 2016. The number  of secondary places the school will eventually be able to offer will be 60; however these places will be created on a phased basis.

What happens next

A public notice will be published on 18th September 2014.

Following the publication of the notice there will be a four week representation period, during this time anyone who wishes to make representation about this proposal should do so via this survey or via the alternatives on the notice.

A decision will be made by Cabinet Committee within two months of the end of the representation period.

The outcome will be advised on the website.
