Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) Covid 19 Review

Closed 31 Jul 2020

Opened 3 Jul 2020

Overview

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how we consult on new plans, policies and planning applications, to ensure that the views and needs of local communities are heard and responded to.

Why your views matter

The current SCI was adopted by the City Council in January 2020. However, since adoption, the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, and ensuing restrictions on social distancing and access to public buildings, has meant that some of the methods of consultation outlined in the SCI are currently not possible.

Birmingham City Council is therefore proposing a number of temporary wording changes to the SCI which will be subject to consultation for four weeks prior to adoption. The temporary amendments will then remain in place until all restrictions due to the Covid-19 outbreak have been fully lifted.

The City Council is therefore inviting comments on those parts of the SCI which have been amended (any comments relating to the un-amended parts of the SCI will not be taken into account). All relevant comments will be considered before the temporary amendments are adopted. The consultation will close on 31st July 2020.

The consultation draft of the Statement of Community Involvement Covid 19 Review is available to view below.  An accessible version suitable for screen readers is also available below.
