Overview

We are proposing to increase the number of pupils at Uffculme School through the expansion of the school over two additional sites. This project is part of the Special School Additional Places Programme.

Uffculme School is a community special school for 155 pupils aged between 2 - 19 with a statement of need or Education, Health and Care Plan for Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school is situated on Queensbridge Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 8QB.

The following changes are proposed:

To increase the number of pupils from 155 to 204 with effect from 1st September 2016.

For the expansion of the school across the following two sites:

• Site One: Chamberlain House, Yew Tree Road, Birmingham, b13 8QG – this site is 0.5km from the main site at Queensbridge Road.
• Site Two: 40, Russell Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 8QG – this site is 1.02km from the main site at Queensbridge Road

Remodelling work will be carried out at these sites to provide the additional classrooms and ancillary space required to implement the proposal.

What happens next

The representation will begin 17th September 2015.

The representation period will run until 15th October  2015.

During this time anyone who wishes to make comments/objections about this proposal should do so via this survey. The proposal including any comments/objections received will be taken to Cabinet Committee for a decision in December 2015.

If the proposal is approved the changes will come into effect from December 2015.
