Food waste pilot - Tell us about your experience

Overview

Your household is taking part in a new food waste collection pilot, involving around 10,000 homes across six wards in Birmingham.

We are using this pilot to demonstrate how the service works in the city, and to refine it ahead of a citywide rollout later this year.

What you should have received

By now, you should have received:

  • A 7‑litre grey indoor kitchen caddy
  • A 23‑litre brown outdoor caddy
  • An instruction letter
  • A sticker for your outdoor caddy

You should continue to use your existing grey-lid bin for household waste.

Recycling collections are not part of this pilot and will be reintroduced separately later this year.

About the pilot

Not all homes in the pilot wards are included.

The households taking part reflect a wide mix of property types and household sizes, helping us show how well the service works in different settings.

This pilot is also an important step in improving recycling across Birmingham and supporting new national requirements.

Have your say

We want to know how the service is working for you. Your feedback will help us improve the food waste service before it is introduced more widely across the city.

The survey should take around 5 minutes to complete.
