School Accessibility Survey 2021/2022

Closed 29 Apr 2022

Opened 9 Feb 2022

Overview

Under DfE guidance and related legislation, mainstream schools, including maintained nursery schools, 16 to 19 academies, alternative provision academies and Pupil Referral Units, must publish an information report as to:

  • the arrangements for the admission of disabled pupils
  • the steps you have taken to prevent disabled pupils from being treated less favourably than other pupils
  • the facilities you provide to help disabled pupils to access the school

Schools should include an accessiblity plan within the information, showing how they intend to improve access.

Why your views matter

Education Infrastructure with the Physical Disability Support Service are collecting this data because:

  • Improving the accessibility of our schools is a key priority for Birmingham City Council.
  • We are particularly interested in the accessibility plan and facilities within schools.
  • We are surveying the mainstream school estate to understand what facilities are currently available and what support schools may need to improve accessibility (e.g. access to funding).
