BLACHIR Phase 1 Engagement Workshop Survey

Closed 20 Sep 2021

Opened 7 Jul 2021

Overview

Birmingham and Lewisham African & Caribbean Health Inequalities Review (BLACHIR) is a joint research project between Lewisham Council and Birmingham City Council. It has begun ground-breaking work to gather insights on health inequalities experienced by African and Caribbean communities.

The Review is taking a thematic approach which explores specific topics with an academic board and external advisory board based on the published evidence base. The Boards work with Public Health to use this evidence to create recommended opportunities for action that will drive sustainable change.

The Review is keen to engage a wider range of people in reviewing these opportunities for action before the completion of the project through wider engagement and reflection, including perspectives from individuals with lived experience.

The first three themes completed by the Review are:

  • Racism and Discrimination impact on Health and Wellbeing
  • Early Years, Pregnancy and Parenthood
  • Children and Young People (e.g. youth violence, not in education, employment or training (NEET), opportunities).

This online survey gives you an opportunity to comment on the recommendations from the review so far and feed into the Review report.
