Overview

We are proposing to make a prescribed change to Brays School as part of the Special Schools Additional Places programme. Namely an increase in pupil numbers by the provision of an additional site and a change to the special educational needs designation.

Brays School is a community special school for 138 pupils aged between 2 - 11 with a statement of need or Education, Health and Care Plan for Physical Medical Learning Difficulties and Complex Medical Need.

The following changes are proposed:

  • To increase the number of pupils from 138  to 220 with effect from 1st September 2016 by the provision of an additional site at Leycroft Building, Gressel Lane, Tile Cross, Birmingham B33 9UF.This site is 1.97 miles from the main site.
  • Change of Special Educational Needs Designation to include Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)

The school is currently operating from this site on a temporary basis .These proposals seek to make this permanent.

Remodelling work will be carried out at the Gressel Lane site to provide the additional classrooms and ancillary space required to implement the proposal.
