Overview

Gunter Primary School is a community school and nursery for pupils aged 3 - 11 years. The school is located on Gunter Road, Pype Hayes, Birmingham B24 0RU (Pipe Hayes Ward and Erdington Constituency).

This proposal by Birmingham City Council, in collaboration with the school, is to consult formally on the removal of the nursery provision from Gunter Primary School by:

  • Altering the lower age limit from 3 years to age 4 years;
  • The age range would become 4 - 11 years;
  • The nursery provision would be removed with effect 1st September 2019.

This change is being proposed due to:

  • High amount of nursery provsion in the local area;
  • Low number of nursery pupils at the school in recent years;
  • Low pupil numbers affect the amount of funding;
  • Low funding is putting strain on the school budget.

Further details of the proposal are in the Full Proposal Document attached at the bottom of this consultation webpage.

What happens next

At the end of this formal consultation (representation period) : The "Results" section and the "We asked, you said, we did" section of this web page will be updated with a summary of the responses received. The detailed comments will be anonymised and forwarded with a report to the decision makers at Birmingham City Council.
