The decision will be made by 14th December 2016 and will be notified on this website.

The Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Schools jointly with the Strategic Director for People, approved the proposal on 14th December 2016.

The Local Authority has determined to implement the proposal.

The school will alter the lower age range of the school with effect from a modified date of 31st July 2017.

Overview

Proposed Changes to Harper Bell Seventh Day Adventist Primary School

Harper Bell Seventh Day Adventist School is a voluntary aided school located in the  Nechells ward of the Ladywood district. The school caters for pupils aged 3 to 11.

The school offers up to 30 places in each year group from Reception through to year 6. The school currently has a nursery than can accommodate up to 25 full time equivalent places. As at May 2016 there were 210 pupils on roll at the school, of those pupils 17 were in the nursery.

We the Local Authority, in collaboration and with full support of the Interim Executive Board of the school are proposing to make the following changes to Harper Bell Seventh Day Adventist Primary School.

  • Alter the lower age range of the school from 3 - 11 years to 4 - 11 years.
  • This change willl result in the closure of the nursery

We are proposing that these changes come into effect from 31st December 2016.

What happens next

The consultation will start on 19th September 2016 and will run until 14th October 2016.

During this time anyone who wishes to make comments/objections about this proposal should do so via this survey. 

When the consultation ends the Local Authority will consider all comments and will make the decsion as to whether to lower the age range of the school to close the nursery.

If the proposal is approved the changes will come into with effect from 31st December 2016
