Overview

The fundamental problem of how to assist people in housing need in Birmingham, at a time when there is a significant shortfall in the supply of affordable housing, presents a significant challenge for the Council.

A key element in meeting this challenge is making best use of all suitable, affordable housing stock, irrespective of tenure.

Why your views matter

A key priority within the council’s strategic policy agenda includes increasing the capacity within the private rented sector to meet the needs of homeless households.

By working in partnership with private landlords and letting agents we want to make greater use of the private rented sector in order to secure the provision of a range of safe and affordable housing options.

To help us achieve this we want to know what you perceive as possible obstacles to working in partnership with us; and what would encourage you to join us in addressing the housing challenges our city faces.
