A total of 5 responses were received, one in favour and four against. The responses were from parents/ carers of pupils of the school (four) and one from a school governor.
We did
We analysed the consultation results and provided the decision maker with a copy of the summary and all comments received for their consideration (Personal or identifying information is removed from responses before sharing with the decision maker).
The decision maker approved the proposal for implementation. Please see decision letter attached to this webpage. A full copy of the decision report can be found via a link at the bottom of this webpage.
On 29 August 2025 Birmingham City Council determined to implement the proposal as approved. The proposal will be implemented 1st September 2025. A link to the decision report can be found at the bottom of this webpage (this includes a summary of the consultation results).

Overview
Proposal to Make Changes to Mapledene Primary School :
Birmingham City Council is consulting on a proposal to make the following change to the school, a community school located at Mapledene Road, Birmingham, West Midlands, B26 3XE:
- Alter the lower age range of the school from 3-11 to 4-11
- Remove nursery provision with effect from 1st September 2025

Why your views matter
There is a process that Birmingham City Council must follow to propose and decide this type of change. The process requires public consultation to invite comments from interested parties.
What happens next
The statutory consultation will start on 19th March 2025 and close on 11th April 2025.
During this time, anyone may make comments in support or objection to this proposal via the survey link at the bottom of this webpage.
At the end of the consultation period, all responses will be presented to the Birmingham City Council for consideration for continuing to statutory publication state the decision maker for their consideration*. The decision maker is Birmingham City Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families.
When the decision has been made, the official determination will be published on this webpage with a link to the decision report.
