Overview

Birmingham City Council, as the Local Authority for Birmingham is proposing to make the following changes to Oscott Manor School, a community special school for pupils with a Statement of Educational Need or Education and Health Care Plan for Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC):

  • Transfer from Old Oscott Hill to Reservoir Road, Birmingham B23 6DE.

The school can currently offer up to 116 places for pupils with a Statement of Need or Education and Health Care Plan for Autistic Spectrum Condition(ASC).

The school will be replaced with a new purpose built school on the new site.

The building replacement is part of the Department for Educations’s (DfE) Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP) and the new building will be constructed by the DfE’s capital team.


It is proposed that the relocation will be effective from 1st November 2021.

 

Why your views matter

There is a process that we must follow to make these sorts of changes to schools.

Part of that process is formal public consultation which lasts for 4 weeks (known as the "representation period").

This formal consultation is open between 4th April and 2nd May 2019.

What happens next

At the end of this formal consultation (representation period) : The "Results" section and the "We asked, you said, we did" section of this web page will be updated with a summary of the responses received. The detailed comments will be anonymised and forwarded with a report to the decision makers at Birmingham City Council. The decision makers will make a decision on the proposal within two months from the end of the representation period (2nd July 2019).

19th June 2019: Birmingham City Council determined to implement the proposal for Oscott Manor School as detailed. A copy of the letter of determination and a link to the decision report can be found at the bottom of this webpage. 

27th October 2021: Birmingham City Council has determined a modification to the implementation date for the transfer of Oscott Manor School to the new site as follows:
Transfer Oscott Manor School to a new site on Reservoir Road, Birmingham on 4th January 2022 (originally 1st November 2021).
