Proposed Local Authority Admission Arrangements for September 2019/2020

Overview

Each year Birmingham City Council consults on its scheme for the coordinated admissions to schools and academies in its area for the following academic year.

Birmingham City Council is the admission authority for community and voluntary controlled schools and is responsible for consulting on the proposed published admission number and how places are offered at these schools.

Responses may be made public following the closure of the consultation, if you are happy for your personal information to be shared you can leave your personal details, if not please leave comments or objections anonymously using the tools provided.

Why your views matter

When admission authorities propose changes to their current admission arrangements, they must consult on those changes for a minimum of six weeks. This consultation period allows parents, other schools, religious authorities and the local community to raise any concerns about their proposed admission arrangements.

Admission authorities must consult with:

• parents of children between the ages of two and eighteen;
• other persons in the relevant area who in the opinion of the admission authority have an interest in the proposed admissions;
• all other admission authorities within the relevant area (except that primary schools need not consult secondary schools);
• whichever of the governing body and the local authority who are not the admission authority;
• any adjoining neighbouring local authorities where the admission authority is the local authority; and
• in the case of schools designated with a religious character, the body or person representing the religion or religious denomination.

What happens next

Any objections or comments will be responded to in due course if necessary once the consultation period has elapsed.
