Overview

Redhill Primary  School is a community school and nursery for pupils aged 3 - 11 years. The school is located on Redhill Road, Birmingham B25 8HQ and located in the Tyseley and Hay Mills ward of  the City.

This proposal by Birmingham City Council, in collaboration with the school, is to consult formally on the removal of the nursery provision from Redhill Primary School by:

  • Altering the lower age limit from 3 years to age 4 years;
  • The age range would become 4 - 11 years;
  • The nursery provision would be removed with effect 31st December 2019.

This change is being proposed due to:

  • High amount of nursery provsion in the local area;
  • Low number of nursery pupils at the school in recent years;
  • Low pupil numbers affect the amount of funding;
  • Low funding is putting strain on the school budget.

Further details of the proposal are in the Full Proposal Document attached at the bottom of this consultation webpage.

Part of the required process is formal public consultation; this will last for 4 weeks (known as the "representation period").

This formal consultation is open from 12th September to 10th October 2019.

We are keen to receive your comments on the proposal and you can comment using the online survey below until 10th October 2019.

What happens next

At the end of this formal consultation (representation period) : The "Results" section and the "We asked, you said, we did" section of this web page will be updated with a summary of the responses received. The detailed comments will be anonymised and forwarded with a report to the decision makers at Birmingham City Council. The decision makers will make a decision on the proposal within two months from the end of the representation period (10th December 2019).

We will notify stakeholders of the decision when it has been made and this website will be updated.
