Birmingham City Council asked for your comments on the proposal to establish Special Educational Needs (SEN) Provision in a mainstream school by providing a SEN Resource Base at Blakesley Hall Primary School for up to 10 pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from January 2023.

A total of 11 responses were received, 10 in favour, 0 opposed and 0 neither/don’t know. The responses were from 9 parents/ carer of pupils at the School, local residents and 9 member of staff at The School.

We analysised the consultation results and provided the decision maker with a copy of the summary and all comments received for their consideration (Personal or identifying information is removed from responses before sharing with the decision maker).

On 7th December 2022 the Council determined to implement the proposal as approved. The proposal will be implemented January 2023. A link to the decision report can be found at the bottom of this webpage (this includes a summary of the consultation results).

Overview

Proposal to Make Changes to Blakesley Hall Primary:

Birmingham City Council is consulting on a draft/statutory proposal to make the following change to the school, a community school located at Yardley Green Road, Stechford, Birmingham, B33 8TH:

  • Establish Special Resource provision;
  • ‘Resource Base’ for up to 10 pupils;
  • Type of need: Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Why your views matter

There is a process that Birmingham City Council must follow to propose and decide this type of change. The process requires public consultaiton to invite comments from interested parties.

What happens next

The statutory consultation will start on 22nd September 2022 and close on 20th October 2022.

During this time, anyone may make comments in support or objection to this proposal via the survey link at the bottom of this webpage.

At the end of the consultation period, all responses will be presented to the Birmingham City Council for consideration for continuing to statutory publication state the decision maker for their consideration*. The decision maker is Birmingham City Council's Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Culture.

When the decision has been made, the official determination will be published on this webpage with a link to the decision report.
