Proposal to Make Changes to Hamilton School:

Hamilton School's Governing Body in collaboration with Birmingham City Council is consulting on a proposal to make changes to Hamilton Special School Special school school located at Hamilton Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, B21 8AH

  • Alter the age range from 4 – 11 years to 4 – 16 years.
  • Increase pupil number from 108 to 287
  • Effective from 1st September 2025.

There is a process that  must follow to propose and decide this type of change. The process requires public consultaiton to invite comments from interested parties.

What happens next

The pre-publication consultation will start on 6th June 2023 and close on 18th July 2023.

During this time, anyone may make comments in support or objection to this proposal via the survey link at the bottom of this webpage.

At the end of the consultation period, all responses will be presented to the Birmingham City Council for consideration for continuing to statutory publication state the decision maker for their consideration*. The decision maker is Birmingham City Council's Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Culture.

When the decision has been made, the official determination will be published on this webpage with a link to the information about the statutory publication stage will be sent to stakeholders.
