Overview

Proposal to Make Changes to Skilts Special School

Skilts Special School is a Birmingham community special school located outside the City boundary in Redditch, Worcestershire.

The School can currently offer up to 90 places for pupils aged 5 - 11 years who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

The Interim executive Board (IEB) of Skilts Special School has approved two temporary changes to the age range of the school as follows;

  1. Change to the age range from 5 - 11 years (Reception to Year 6) to 5 - 12 years (Reception to Year 7) with effect from 1st September 2020 until 31st August 2021.
  2. Change to the age range from 5 - 11 (Reception to Year 6) to 5 - 14 years (Reception to Year 9) with effect from 19th April 2021 to 31st August 2022

Temporary changes like this can be in place for a maximum of 2 years.

The Local Authority would like to change the age range of Skilts Special School permanently and are now issuing proposals to;

  • Change the age range from 5 - 11 years to 5 - 14 years with effect from 1st September 2021.
  • This will allow pupils to remain at Skilts Special School until the end of year 9.
