The School Organisation Team fo Birmingham City Council looked at the comments in detail and produced the summary analysis attached to this consultation page. Personal data has been removed from teh responses (redacted). All comments were shared with the decision makers with a copy of the analysis for their consideration.

 

Determination (decision):

This proposal was approved jointly by the Leader of the Council and the Assistant Director for Children and Young People on 18th April 2018.

The Local Authority, in exercise of the powers confered on it, has determined to implement the proposal as details.

Overview

St Benedict’s Infant School is a community infant school situated in the Bordesley Green ward of the Hodge Hill district of the City.

The school is currently linked with Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy.

At the request of Governing Body of the school, Birmingham City Council is consulting on a proposal to make some changes to St Benedict’s Infant School with effect from 1st September 2018.

The proposed changes are explained below;

  • Alter the upper age limit from age 7 years to age 11 years with effect from 1st September 2018.
  • The school’s age range will change from 3 – 7 years to become 3 – 11 years.
  • The school will become an all through primary school for pupils from Reception through to Year 6.

It is proposed that the admission number will be 60.

The intake year will be Reception; there will be no separate intake in year 3.

 

Why your views matter

This stage of the consultation is known as the statutory (representation) period and will run for four weeks from 27th February to 27th March 2018.

We are keen to receive your comments on the proposal, anyone who wishes to make comments/objections about this final proposal can comment online here until 27th March 2018.

All comments received during this formal consultation (representation) stage will be forwarded along with a report to the decision makers.

The decision makers will take all views into consideration and make a determination regarding the proposal by 27th May 2018.

What happens next

There is a statutory process that we must follow to make these sorts of changes to schools.

We have carried out the pre - statutory (informal) consultation, this ended on 9th February 2018. An analysis of the responses received can be found in the appendix of the final proposal document attached.

We are now entering the four week statutory consultation (representation) stage during which we want to hear your views on the proposal.

All views received during this statutory stage will be forwarded, along with a report to the decision makers for a decision on the proposal no later than 27th May 2018. 

We will update the "We asked, you said, we did" section of this web page when a decision on the proposal has been made.
