Overview

We are proposing to make several changes to The Pines School as part of the Special School Additional Places programme.

These proposals were previously published with different implementation dates. They were originally consulted upon in September 2014 and approved by Cabinet Committee in December 2014.

As the original implementation dates could not be met we are now issuing fresh proposals and seeking fresh approval with new dates.

The changes that are proposed are as follows:

  • Transfer the school from Dreghorn Road, Hodge Hill, Birmingham B36 8LL to a new site at, Stockland Green Community and Learning Village, Marsh Hill, Erdington, Birmingham B23 7EY with effect from 1st September 2016.

  • Increase in the number of primary aged pupil places that the school can offer from 95 to 130 with effect from 1st September 2016. These places will be created on a phased basis.

  • Alteration of the upper age limit of the school from 11 years to 16 years so as to offer secondary provision with effect from 1st September 2017. The number of secondary places the school will eventually be able to offer will be 60.These places will be created on a phased basis.

The Pines School is a community special school for 95 pupils aged between 2 years to 11 years with a statement of need for Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school is situated on Dreghorn Road, Castle Bromwich within the Hodge Hill ward of the City.
