Overview

Birmingham 2022 legacy improvements at Boldmere Gate, Sutton Park – proposed installation of electrical infrastructure

As part of the preparatory work required for the Birmingham 2022 Triathlon and Para Triathlon events at Boldmere Gate, Sutton Park, Birmingham City Council is seeking to install some electrical infrastructure – a substation and two electrical hook-up points.

The substation will be installed within the car park area at Miller & Carter restaurant, and the two electrical hook-up points will be installed either side of the carriageway into the park (one on the events/playing field; the other on the car park side).

In order to complete the required installation, there will be a small loss of public open space where equipment is sited. The Council is required to advertise the loss of that public open space land (both permanent and temporary) and begin a four week consultation window. Birmingham City Council will consider any objections to the proposal, and any objections should be made in writing (quoting reference: LS/PTY/AV/201830) to Satinder Sahota, Assistant City Solicitor, Birmingham City Council, Legal & Governance Department at satinder.sahota@birmingham.gov.uk . Any objections should be provided by 24th January 2022.

The downloadable briefing note provides further details, and the proposed location of the substation and electrical hook-up points <briefing note>. The following plans show the areas of land which would either be temporarily or permanently lost as a result of installation of the substation and electrical hook-up points:

  1. Plan showing the temporary loss of land at Sutton Park associated with the proposed substation and electrical hook-up points at a scale of 1:1,250. The land which will be temporarily lost is outlined in red. <19567@1250 attached>
  2. Plan showing the temporary loss of land at Sutton Park associated with the proposed substation and electrical hook-up points at a scale of 1:2,500. The land which will be temporarily lost is outlined in red <19567@2500 v0.2 attached>
  3. Plan showing the permanent loss of land at Sutton Park associated with the proposed substation and electrical hook-up points at a scale of 1:1,250. The land which will be permanently lost is outlined in red. <19568@1250 attached>
