Overview

Following the previous two consultation carried out earlier this year, we have had to revise the proposals again for the new cycling and walking path from Woodend to Hamstead Park. This is in line with comments received at the last public consultation.

The revised route proposal will move the new path out of the floodplain. The first part of the new path still follows the same route from Woodend to the Greenway. The revised part of the proposal is between the Greenway and Hamstead Park. The proposed cycle route would run along the Greenway and enter Hamstead Park at the existing cul-de-sac entrance. A short section of the route will run on the existing path before going into Hamstead Park. After this a new section of path will be built in the path to join the other cycle route path completed last year.

We would like to hear your views on these revised proposals.

These proposals form part of the Birmingham Cycle Revolution (BCR) project which is developing a network of routes through green open spaces and along canal towpaths. The project is also developing routes on main roads, quieter back street roads, 20mph speed limit areas and other supporting measures including cycle parking.

The project is jointly funded by Birmingham City Council and The Government’s Cycle City Ambition Grant. As well as building routes like this, the project is working with schools, workplaces and at leisure centres to get more people cycling.  There are many ways you can get involved!  Check the website at http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/bcr
