We asked

We recently asked you to complete the Birmingham Wellbeing Panel Survey answering some questions about how active you are, what you do to keep active and what other activities you would be interested in. We also invited you to join our new exciting Wellbeing Panel to help the Wellbeing Service to improves its services and encourage everyone to become more active.

You said

We received over 6,500 survey responses and over 2,500 of you joined our Wellbeing Panel so that you could carry on talking to us. Thank you to all of you who responded and/or joined the panel – your responses are greatly valued and will be put to good use.

The good news is that 60% of everyone we spoke to said they want to do more physical exercise – which is great!  When we looked at the relationship between happy people and healthy people, we found that 84% of those who said they felt healthy also said they were happy.

So it looks like if you want to be happier, being healthier may help and doing any sort of physical activity will help you be healthier.

We have updated the Wellbeing webpage http://tools.birminghamwellbeing.com/WellbeingPanel/ with some other interesting facts that you told us in the survey.

We did

Your feedback will help us to understand what we need to do to encourage more people to use our Wellbeing and Leisure Centres, parks, open spaces to keep active and healthy.  We have continued to consult members of the Wellbeing Panel on Health and Wellbeing in Birmingham, and recently sent out a short Parks Survey and invites to a Parks Summit which both had a good response.

We will continue to engage with the Wellbeing Panel to get their views on how we can improve our services, promote healthy lifestyles and conduct further research.

You can find more information on how to keep active for free on the following webpages:-

Overview

The Birmingham Wellbeing Service needs your help!

The Birmingham City Council Wellbeing Service has produced this survey to ask people who live in Birmingham to tell us how active they are and what local facilities they use. This will help inform us how to encourage everyone to keep active, healthy and happy.

If you’d like to help out please complete and share this survey, which will take less than 10 minutes, and you’ll be in with a chance to win Love2shop vouchers worth up to £300!

At the end of the survey there is an opportunity to join our Birmingham Wellbeing Panel, where we will only contact you 2 or 3 times a year to get your feedback on what physical activities you are doing and how we can help you, and others, keep more active by improving our local services and facilities.

Why your views matter

We would like to get as many people who live in Birmingham to talk to us about how active or inactive they are and what local facilities they do or don’t use, so that we can understand more about what we need to do to encourage people like you to use our Wellbeing Centres, parks, open spaces and cycle lanes more.

Your response is greatly valued and will be put to good use by the Birmingham Wellbeing Service to try and improve services and facilities near you and help get everyone a bit more active, healthy and happy.
