What Happens Next

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. Your feedback is invaluable and has provided us with a clear understanding of the priorities, concerns and aspirations of park users and local residents.

The project will now move into the detailed design stage. The consultation findings will play an important role in shaping and refining the proposals, helping to ensure that the final design reflects the needs and preferences identified through the engagement process. In particular, we will be exploring opportunities to make the toddler play area safer, while also enhancing the accessibility, inclusivity and overall family-friendly nature of the wider play area.

Many respondents also raised valuable suggestions that fall outside the scope of the current project. These comments will be shared with the Parks Service and used to help inform future planning, investment decisions and potential improvements within Kings Heath Park, ensuring that the wider feedback received through this consultation continues to shape the park's future development.

Overview

Funding is now available to bring a range of improvements to Kings Heath Park, enhancing its quality, accessibility and use for everyone.

The available funding does not cover all proposed improvements at this stage, so the aim of this consultation is to understand residents' priorities so that we can deliver the most important items first, while seeking additional funding to possibly complete the remainder in future phases.

We want your views to help shape these proposals and ensure investment focuses on what matters most to the community. Potential proposed improvements include:

  • Expanding the main play area with new and replacement equipment
  • Creating picnic areas within the play space
  • Installing a new calisthenics area for advanced users
  • Adding an outdoor gym to support health and wellbeing
  • Upgrading pathways to improve safety, access, and connectivity
  • Closing the outdated toddler area and incorporating it into the upgraded main play area
