Overview

We would like to seek your views on proposed improvement works at Ledsam Street. We are aiming to deliver improvement works to the play facilities, including a new multi play unit, new roundabout, additional sensory play  enhancements such as interactive panel and floor markings, and general repairs to the surrounding areas such as the retaining walls, gates etc.

Why are we investing in Ledsam Street Play Area when there are plans for the Ladywood Estate to be regenerated?

Due to the age of the play equipment, it needs updating now to avoid the risk of having to close the park due to safety.  Play equipment typically has a lifespan of 10 – 15 years.  Developer contributions from a nearby development have been allocated to the playpark to deliver the refurbishment of the equipment.

The Ladywood Estate Regeneration Scheme is a long-term programme of regeneration, that will be delivered in phases over the next 20 years.  This will allow for a longer-term approach to play parks throughout the estate to be taken through the masterplan process.

The safety improvements to Ledsam Street are part of the ongoing maintenance of the estate now whilst regeneration plans are progressed in tandem.

Please refer to the attached layout plans under "Related Documents" for more detail about the improvement works we are proposing.
