School Streets (Phase 6) - Improvements

Overview

A School Street is a road outside a school where most vehicles are not allowed during school drop-off and pick-up times. This helps reduce traffic and creates a safer, more pleasant environment for pupils, families and local residents.

The following four School Streets have been in place since April 2026:

  • Blakesley Hall Primary School
  • Cottesbrooke Infant and Nursery School
  • St. Laurence Church Infant School
  • St. Michael's C of E Primary School

We would like to hear from people about their experiences of these School Streets, and any improvements they would like to see.

Your feedback will help us understand local issues and identify opportunities to make journeys to and from school safer, healthier and more welcoming for everyone.

About the traffic order process

What is an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order?

The changes are being tested using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO). This is the official paperwork that lets us trial the School Streets to see if they work, before changes to the road are made permanent.

For the first six months, you can:

  • Send in comments
  • Make a formal objection (explaining clearly why you think the ETRO should change)

We are now checking to see how well the School Street is working. This webpage is the easiest and quickest way to send us any thoughts, ideas, or problems you may have noticed. 

Persons wishing to object to the making of the Order must, within six months of the date of the Order coming into operation, send a statement in writing, including the grounds for their objection, to:
