Local Safety Scheme - Stoney Lane
Overview
Birmingham City Council has an obligation to undertake safety schemes on the Highway. In order to undertake this commitment, funding has been secured to enable a programme of schemes to be delivered. Schemes are selected using criteria set out in the current Birmingham Road Safety Strategy.
Stoney Lane between Church Road and Blakesley Road has been identified within the Safety Scheme Programme as meeting the criteria, and the following interventions have been identified.
We are proposing to make the following improvements:
- New revised keep clear road markings and additional lane markings at the roundabout junction of Stoney Lane/Hobmoor Rd to improve driver compliance.
- Enhancements to the existing pedestrian refuge on Stoney Lane directly fronting property numbers 143/145 to improve the visibility of this crossing point, including upgraded road markings, new look left/right road markings, new bollards adjacent to the tactile paving plus improved bollards on the island itself
- Improved signage on all approaches to the Blakesley Road/Stoney Lane junction including additional junction warning signs
