Overview
Birmingham Cycle Revolution (BCR) is an exciting initiative to encourage more people to cycle in and around the city. Our vision is to make cycling an everyday way to travel in Birmingham. We want 5% of all trips in the city to be made by bike by 2023, and to double this again to 10% by 2033. This will help to make our city healthier, greener, safer and less congested.
As part of the programme for BCR Phase 3 a number of local highway schemes are proposed to complete the highway links for Green and Canal Route schemes which were delivered as part of the previous BCR phases.
The schemes included in Phase 3 are:
- Old Walsall Road –Proposed Parallel Crossing connecting to the River Tame Way
- Tritiford Road – Proposed shared use footway and crossing to connect Cole Valley Green Route.
- Monyhull Hall Road – On road cycle route linking Stratford-upon-Avon Canal to Rea Valley Route.
- Link to Billesley Common - Proposed shared use footway and crossing point to connect Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and Cole Valley Green Route.
- Harborne Walkway - Proposed shared use footway and dropped kerb to enter the Harborne Walkway from Park Hill Road.
The details of the proposals are shown on the attached plans:
- BCR-NC793-16-003 (Old Walsall Road, General Arrangement)
- BCR-NC793-20-003 (Trittiford Road, General Arrangement)
- BCR-NC793-21-003 – BCR NC793-21-006 (Monyhull Hall Road, General Arrangement)
