Residential Development of Land East of Wellhead Lane, Perry Barr

Closed 4 Mar 2019

Opened 11 Feb 2019

Birmingham City Council is preparing an outline planning application for the redevelopment of land east of Wellhead Lane, Perry Barr, after the Commonwealth Games.  During the Games this land will provide for the non-residential elements of the Athletes' Village.

The proposal is for the creation of a high quality, residential neighbourhood of 400 - 500 new homes and associated public open space and a new secondary school and sixth form for 1,260 pupils. A mix of three, four and five-bed townhouses and a small number of one and two-bedroom apartments is being proposed.

This will sit alongside the redevelopment of the former BCU teaching campus, which will provide the residential element of the Athletes' Village during the Games.

Why We Are Consulting

This is pre-application consultation on an outline application.  The outline application will set the principles, whilst fuller detail will follow when the school and residential schemes are progressed to the full application stage.

This is an opportunity for people to find out more about the proposals and have an input in shaping the principles which will guide development here.

Information about the proposals and details of a public exhibition are provided further down this page.

What Happens Next

The feedback received during the pre-application consultation will be taken into account in preparing the outline application.
