Overview

St Benedict's Primary School is a community school for pupils aged 3 - 11 years. The school is located on St Benedict's Road, Small Heath, Birmingham B10 9DP. (Small Heath Ward; Hodge Hill Constituency.)

This proposal by Birmingham City Council, in collaboration with the Governing Body of the school, is to consult formally on the removal of the nursery provision from St Benedict's Primary School by:

  • Altering the lower age limit from 3 years to age 4 years;
  • The age range would become 4 - 11 years;
  • The nursery provision would be removed with effect 31st August 2021.

This change is being proposed due to:

  • High amount of nursery provsion in the local area;
  • Low number of nursery pupils at the school in recent years;
  • Low pupil numbers affect the amount of funding;
  • Low funding is putting strain on the school budget.

Further details of the proposal are in the Full Proposal Document attached at the bottom of this consultation webpage.

What happens next

At the end of this formal consultation (representation period) : The "Results" section and the "We asked, you said, we did" section of this web page will be updated with a summary of the responses received. The detailed comments will be anonymised and forwarded with a report to the decision makers at Birmingham City Council.
