Overview

Local development funding has been secured by Birmingham City Council specifically for the improvement of play facilities within Four Oaks ward. The existing play area at Mere Green Centre has been identified as the preferred location for investment of this funding and a scheme has been developed to enhance the existing facilities in consultation with the District Parks Manager, ward members and Sutton Town Council.

Within the limited space available around the existing play area, MUGA and tennis courts, it was decided that a new outdoor gym would best suited to complement the facilities present on site.

In addition, further funding was granted to the project by Sutton Town Council, which has allowed us to greatly extend the scope of the scheme and enable  the purchase of the first interactive play arch within Birmingham. The SONA arch is fully accessible and caters to all abilities and ages of users from toddlers to the elderly, by providing interactive games which everyone can play together.

Why your views matter

It is important for us to hear your views on what happens in your local area, in addition the proposed scheme will contribute to the Council’s key priorities:

Health: through the visible investment and physical improvement of the recreation and play area, increased numbers of residents will be encouraged to participate in outdoor play and physical activity.

Children: through the design improvements, children and young people of all backgrounds and abilities will have the opportunity to enjoy playing outdoors in a safer and brighter environment.

What happens next

Your views and comments will now be taken forward in consideration of the final scheme.

Thanks you for your feedback.
